The Best Boutique Shops in Downtown Frederick

Last month, we wrote about some of the best restaurants in downtown Frederick.

Over the years, downtown Frederick has seen a resurgence not only with restaurants but with a number of independent, local specialty boutiques that line the streets.

As the holidays are coming upon us, we wanted to share some of our favourite independent downtown Frederick shopping!

Whether you’re a foodie or want something you can’t always find in a big box store…there is something for everyone!

A lot of us at Dave’s HVAC Frederick offices love to spend an afternoon just strolling the streets in downtown.

The streets are lined with new and fun things to see.

As everything is close, its best just to drive to downtown Frederick and park your car and just walk!

Lets go!

8 Specialty Shops in Downtown Frederick

LOVE: Lebherz Oil & Vinegar Emporium Downtown Frederick

This place is for the foodies! And anyone who appreciates a refined palette.

Located on North Market Street, this speciality shop has over 60 varieties of olive oil and vinegar. You can sample anything you like as much as you like.

Then they bottle the olive oil or vinegar fresh for you in a bottle size of your choice.

The olive oil is sourced from various farms and is fresh in comparison to the store brought olive oil that has been sitting around in a warehouse for a long time

Edgeworks Knife and Supply

Are unique, super sharp, hard-to-find, Japanese knives your thing? Or maybe you just want to elevate your kitchen cutlery.

This shop is for aspiring cooks and knife lovers alike.

They carry an array of knives – not just kitchen knives either. From Japan, Germany and other places, this shop has the brands you won’t be able to find anywhere else close to downtown Frederick.

Spin the Bottle Wine Company

Located on Patrick Street, right in the heart of downtown Frederick next to the canal, this beer and wine shop has a very special selection.

They have fine craft beer selection and a great wine selection at affordable prices.

Marc worked in the wine industry for 9 years before Lydia and Marc founded Spin the Bottle Wine Company. He has worked with boutique labels, high-end labels, sought-after labels, and well-known wineries.

Marc, in addition to being a wine enthusiast, learned the business from the ground up from winemakers, wine owners, General Managers, and time spent in the vineyards.

Marc’s goal is to bring in wine that is not only affordable but also delicious. Marc enjoys sharing his wine knowledge and expertise and will never pass up the chance to discuss any of their offerings.

Zöe’s Chocolates

Three siblings and their dad started this artisan chocolate shop first in Waynesboro but later with an outpost in downtown Frederick.

Today, their chocolates have gained national acclaim and can be found in the finest shops and hotels. Think Whole Foods, Williams Sonoma, Dean and Deluca, and a plethora of fine independent gourmet shops.

They produce some of the most delectable chocolate with the most interesting flavours…its a real treat we have them right here in Frederick.

Emporium Antiques

Located in a 55,000 square foot warehouse right in the heart of downtown Frederick, Emporium Antiques first opened its doors in 1987, with only a handful of local antiques dealers.

Within a year, the market was bursting at the seams with dealers, and customers flocked through the doors. That was nearly 30 years ago, and the tradition is still going strong today, with 130 antiques dealers and a large consignment section.

This place is huge and you can certainly spend a few hours just browsing around. So many interesting, one off antiques that you can find something special for just about anyone!

Brick and Mortar Mercantile

As per the website, this store is exactly what it sounds like. A specialty shop with small goods either for yourself or for the perfect gift.

They carry a lot of great brands and the owners take a lot of pride in their offerings.

Everything they carry has a story to tell – and seems to be of quality.

This has been a great addition to the downtown Frederick shopping scene and perfect place to take your holiday shopping list.

Art Collective

Looking for something truly unique or want to support local artists?

This place has some very cool and unique items for sale created by a diverse group of talented, local artists.

Because these are “small batch” items created by artists, inventory changes slowly, so it’s always worth a visit to see what’s new.

Savage Soaps

Another Frederick local!

Misti Morningstar, the company’s founder, has always had a penchant for soaps, aromatherapy, and healing.

Misti spent several years perfecting her own recipe and handcrafting small batch soaps infused with natural, organic, and vegan ingredients after becoming dissatisfied with the chemically-laden soaps on the market.

These superior soaps are as natural as any soap can be. They don’t contain any chemicals that are harmful to the environment or your skin.

Sold in lots of specialty stores and whole foods, these soaps make the perfect holiday gifts!

Check out their shop in downtown Frederick.
